Costume Day

Saturday, July 21 is Costume Day at BMD.

We encourage everyone to show up on Saturday in a costume and compete in our Costume Contest at 1:00 p.m. on the Gazebo Stage. We provide a cash prize in each category: men, women and children.

Here's how it works:

Fair-goers planning to enter Saturday's costume contest need to register at the Feud Headquarters near the Main Street entrance next to Bohemia City Hall (aka Festival Information Booth) anytime between Thursday at 4:00 p.m. through Saturday at 12:30 pm . Choose which town you will represent: Slabtown or Lemati. (Click here for Feud Info)  When you sign up you'll get your town's button with your player number on the back.

Time is getting short to get your costume ready for the big day so we're providing some links below to do some online shopping!

To be eligible for the contest and to fill Bohemia City with period costumes, show up in an outfit that fits the late 1800s period.

Suggestions for Saturday's costume competition are:
Old West (fur trappers, cowboys, miners, Native Americans, Oregon Trail prairie immigrants) and Victorian-era aristocrats

There are many ways to join in the fun. Here's some websites that sell these types of costumes:

Historical Emporium
Recollections
Candy Apple Costumes
Heritage Costumes

Please let us know of any local rental businesses for these types of costumes or local tailors who are willing to make one for you.  We are happy to post that information here.

Thanks!
