Kids getting in on the Fun!

Come see 100+ kids and animals marching in the Kiddie Parade! The parade begins and ends on Friday morning at the CG Community Center with a route through the historic downtown area.

This perennial favorite BMD event is open to children 12 years and younger.  At the conclusion of the parade all participants receive a keepsake ribbon and ice cream.

Theme

This year's theme is "Diamonds in the Rough."

Registration

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.  Participants should meet in the east parking lot of the Cottage Grove Community Center (700 E. Gibbs Ave.) and check in at the registration table.  This is a FREE event.  There is no cost to watch or participate.

Pets

Pets are welcome.  All pets must be well-mannered and on a leash at all times.  Owner must be in control of pet at all times.  Keep in mind the hot, mid-July, temperatures make pavement dangerous for paws.  Make sure to bring water for your pet to drink at the end of the parade.  Horses are welcome also!.  Riders must have a support person to scoop up poop immediately during the parade and in the staging area.

Route

The parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. and proceeds west on E. Gibbs Avenue and turns left on 6th Street.  The route then turns right onto Whiteaker Avenue for one block and then turns left onto 5th Street.  The route then turns left and heads east on Main Street to North 8th Street and then left and back to the Community Center parking lot.

The Bloomer Parade kicks off the annual Bohemia Mining Days Festival on Thursday evening

Calling all ladies...

...Get your bloomers on and come on down to sashay through the Historic Downtown District to Bohemia City.

"But I don't have any bloomers," you say.

Not to worry.  Handmade bloomers are available at The Crafty Mercantile, 517 E. Main St.  Shop early for best selection.

The parade leaves from the intersection of 5th and E. Main Streets and travels east along Main St., through the Historic Downtown District, to the Main St. entrance of Bohemia City (Coiner Park, near 14th St.).

The Grand Miners Parade is a tradition stretching back 60 years in Cottage Grove.

  • Route: The parade steps off at 10:00 a.m., sharp.  All entries must be in place by 9:45 a.m.  The route begins on S. 10th St. and Jackson Avenue.  It proceeds north on 10th St. to Main St.  It turns right and proceeds east on Main St. to Gateway Blvd.  It then turns right and heads south on Gateway Blvd and ends at E. Washington Ave.
  • Entry Fee: Entries must submit application and pay appropriate fee.  There will be an additional fee for late applications.  Credit cards accepted (details on application form).

    • $15.00 Non-Profit (Festival Courts, Clubs, Churches, & Individuals)
